NFL Power RankingsIt pains me greatly…

NFL Power Rankings It pains me greatly to rank my Cleveland Browns so low, but they did nothing last week to inspire greater confidence. I still like the Boys to take it all, and I think the Giants are gonna be right there at the end too. I cannot stand Jake Plummer, and the Jags are oh so for real. 1. Dallas Cowboys One loss does not a season make. 2. Indianapolis Colts Peyton 1, Eli 0, but the Colts have a long way to go to Super Bowl LXI. 3. Pittsburgh Steelers Their D is super human and brought Daunte down to earth. 4. New York Giants Coughlin is gonna read these guys the riot act all this week. 5. Cincinnati Bengals Carson Palmer reminds me of Peyton Manning, and the D is getting better. 6. New England Patriots Withstood a tough Buffalo D and won without Deion Branch. 7. Seattle Seahawks Won ugly but all that counts is that W. 8. Jacksonville Jaguars Injuries are piling up with Hayward going down; Dallas victory proves Jags are for real. 9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Shut out in Week One: Chucky is gonna be fuming at his troops this week. 10. San Diego Chargers Marty has his men poised for the long haul, and they’ll be there for the playoffs. 11. Chicago Bears Green Bay was no test; Detroit is the next victim. 12. Denver Broncos Jake the Fake – Reminds me of when Pittsburgh hung onto Kordell too long. 13. Miami Dolphins Yeah Nick there’s still work to do. 14. Carolina Panthers Terribly disappointing start – Minnesota could upset an unsettled Panther team. 15. Kansas City Chiefs Chiefs fans better pray Trent Green can come back and that Larry Johnson stays healthy. 16. Minnesota Vikings Childress will meet the Bears buzzsaw in Week 3 to see what this team is really made of. 17. Washington Redskins Gibbs would love to be 1- 0 going into Dallas for Week 2. 18. Philadelphia Eagles Underrated team that no one is talking about… 19. Baltimore Ravens Tampa never knew what hit them. 20. Atlanta Falcons Surprised Carolina with opening day win. 21. Detroit Lions Hung with the Hawks but need to do a lot more. 22. Houston Texans Stayed competitive for much of the Eagles game. 23. Oakland Raiders Art Shell will teach them winning ways. 24. Tennessee Titans Kerry looks good in blue, especially late in the 4th quarter. 25. St. Louis Rams Beating Denver gives this team some swagger. 26. New York Jets Hung on despite gritty Titans rally; showed guts in first game. 27. New Orleans Saints Tough road win in Cleveland starts them off on right foot. 28. Arizona Cardinals First win in new digs might be good omen for the season. 29. Buffalo Bills Great defense let down again by underachieving offense. 30. Cleveland Browns Underachievers with a roster that should produce more. 31. San Francisco 49′ers Next to worst team in the league? 32. Green Bay Packers Worst team in the league?

Did the Jets Fail Suggs on Purpose?

Wake up conspiracy theorists. There is a rumor going around that the Jets flunked Suggs on purpose after discovering the low asking price for 49ers running back Kevan Barlow.

Jets fans, get your money back on that Suggs jersey

Yesterday’s trade between the Browns and the Jets will not go through now due to Lee Suggs failing his physical today.

Lee Suggs Traded to the Jets

The Browns receive Derek Strait in return. Looks like a good deal for the Jets, who not only get a potential every down back, if he can stay healthy, but also a very different type of back than the others already on the roster.

Thank God It’s Only Preseason You hear everyone this time of year saying “Don’t worry it’s only preseason.” Well using that premise, here are a few one liners we can attach to the usual “Don’t worry it’s only preseason…” There’ll be time to figure out how to keep Brett Favre off his backside. There’ll be time to figure out how to stop Reggie Bush. Hey Green Bay…drafting Aaron Rodgers was a mistake. Can we get rid of those new ref uniforms before the regular season? Yick!! Everyone better be scared of Donovan McNabb. After seeing John Navarre (who I’ve always hated) - get Leinart in there, quick. This Hank Baskett looks awesome at WR for Philly. Mathias Kiwanuka has “it” - and I don’t care if it is preseason. What’s with all these over-hyped QBs who look like crap: J. P. Losman, Alex Smith, Aaron Rodgers…makes you nostalgic for Tim Couch. Speaking of Tim Couch…I say…Ouch!! Why the hell did Cleveland draft him in 1999 and not McNabb? Corey Dillon has a real RB challenging him - Maroney has some jets. So here we go. Everyone will freak out after this first week of preseason. We have Cincy and the Skins tonight, and Art Shell back at ‘em tomorrow night against the Vikes. But the fans are restless; everyone wants a winner now. Wait around 4 weeks and things will start to shake out.

Tatum Bell to the Jets?

Some rumors are starting to circulate about Bell moving to the Jets after the promotion of MIke Bell to number one on the depth chart in Denver. Bell and his agent are denying they are looking for a trade.

Martin’s status for season uncertain

Before the NFL Draft last April, Jets running back Curtis Martin, his surgically-repaired right knee still bothering him, met with the Jets and told them they should strongly consider selecting a running back high in the draft because of his concern about his ability to play this season, a team official told The Star-Ledger yesterday. The Jets have been looking at Thomas Jones lately but w/ Saturday’s injury to Cedric Benson Joens may be off the block. Derek Blaylok’s been taking reps w/ the Jet’s 1st team.
